The Bible and Book of Mormon in Chronological Order

Though the Bible is largely the only book of scripture for most of Christianity, there are some who believe that God continues to talk to his people through additional revelation, such as those who identify as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Here is that scriptures included, chronologically, alongside the Bible.

HOW IS THE BIBLE AND BOOK OF MORMON IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER?

This timeline puts all of the chapters in the Bible, Book of Mormon, and other scripture from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in chronological order. These books are only loosely in chronological order. They come mostly arranged thematically. For example, the Old Testament lists the 5 books of Moses first, then the history of the Israelites, then the teachings of Israelite prophets. The Book of Mormon also contains books like Ether that don’t take place chronologically in their placement.

This is one of the few timelines that isn’t based on a sci-fi/fantasy franchise. Instead, this is made up almost entirely of ancient text. Therefore, you will see a few difference. If you liked this timeline, don’t forget to view some of our others, especially the Bible timeline that includes just the books from the Bible. You can find free text for the Bible, Book of Mormon, and other scriptures here. Additionally, you can also find a podcast with daily chapters from this timeline over at our Bible and Book of Mormon Daily podcast.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Please note that this timeline is a labor of love and not an academic research material. All dates are extremely approximate and don’t necessarily represent the dates that scholars suggest these events may have occurred. But this timeline should help provide a rough order for people who want to experience these books in a different way. Regardless, we hope you enjoy!
